It's just before noon on Wed., Nov 7 in Chennai, India and our whole team is here, alive and mostly well! We've all had at least a little bit of sleep (Sarah, Brian and I were able to get a full night's because we arrived several hours earlier than the rest of the team... whew!) and some food (Indian breakfast appears to me to be about the same as Indian lunch and dinner -- delicious, but a bit weird to wake up to). We're feeling a bit tired, but otherwise it seems that everyone is otherwise healthy and happy to be here! No lost baggage either... Praise the Lord!
We were pleasantly surprised to have Wi-Fi at our hotel -- so as I type this there are 7 of the 11 people of our team crashing in Sarah and I's room where both the A/C and the wi-fi are working :) Party time!
We're looking forward to our 7-hour train ride this afternoon and I don't know about everyone else, but I'm actually kind of looking forward to trying to pee through a hole in the bottom of the train (aka the bathroom). We've been warned that food not prepared by specific places (i.e. Harvest India, our hotel, etc.) is not always safe but most of us remembered to pack enough food to get us from here to Tenali where we'll enjoy dinner together with our host family (Suresh, Christine, et al).
Please pray for our continued safety as we travel from here to Tenali. There was a cyclone here about two weeks ago and it's still the rainy season; this has made the tracks less than ideal. Kishor (the guy from Harvest India who is escorting us) says that we're aiming to take the train this afternoon at 1:30-2pm (arriving around 9pm) but that our timing will be flexible because of the rains and how they affect the train system.
Think that's about it! I've been psting pictures to my personal facebook page but will try to post them somewhere more publicly accessible from this point forwad... Will post a link soon! Thank you for your prayers! Feel free to comment on here for Sarah and I or for one of the other team members and I will pass your messages along as I get them!
